Our Mission
Our mission is to educate the community on their past, their heritage and their potential to be everything that their Ancestors were unable to be. We encourage our students to maintain a healthier more holistic lifestyle by consuming organic food and using natural remedies for ailments.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a platform for Africans on the continent and in the Diaspora to be able to access information about their history and heritage. This vision includes a facility where we will research and test African medical methods and treatments that align with the African laws of nature.
Our Story
Dloziville was founded by Ingwekazi Nokuthula Mnguni-Merrique in 2019 as a community based project. The project delivered over 400 meal kits at almost cost price to people in rural areas during the global pandemic.
These meal kits consisted of locally sourced high quality meat and produce to promote immunity during the COVID-19 lockdown period. Households that were run by the elderly or children received extra support from our founder who prepared the meals and educated the household on how to maintain their hygiene and health.
This aspect of the project was carried out with the valued assistance of the Local Economic Development unit at Nquthu Local Municipality (Umzinyathi). It was and still is funded only by the students and the community it serves.
Areas Serviced in Umzinyathi Region
Since then, Dloziville has grown into an educational academy that promotes holistic healthcare and creative learning as was practiced by our Ancestors. We currently have 70 enrolled students who are actively learning about history, culture, and various other subjects under a curriculum that is designed to make learning fun and engaging.
The IsiZulu word "Dlozi" means Ancestor, speaking to those who walked before us and sought to better the world so that we would one day thrive in it. The English term "ville" speaks to our community vision.
In Dedication
This project is dedicated to Welekazi Nomhle Mdiya (owakwa Mvulane, ongu Msuthu wama Vundle) and Mesuli Eric Francis Mnguni (owakwa Mzimela, ongu Lwandle) who were both educators and servants of their community.
It also honours Matron Botha (Glencoe Primary School) and Dr. Helen Watson (University of KwaZulu-Natal).
May their spirits of love, sharing and creativity live on through us.
